Class Overview

This lecture showcases burlesque costume history. What did burlesque costumes look like as the performance style and content changed over time? What does burlesque costume look like now? If you want to see inspiring imagery of the costumes that came before and how a "classic" costume earned its name, Rosey La Rouge, author of The Costumes of Burlesque, will share her research with you. Â Historic and modern costumes will be presented in this slideshow, some of which can be seen in Rosey's book. There will be time for Q&A and discussion at the end of this lecture.
