About the Instructor

Lola Pistola

Lola Pistola Longtime Alaskan and RN by day, Lola Pistola has been performing since she was 3 years old. Singer, actor (stage and voice), runway model, MC, dancer, and frontwoman for many Anchorage bands, she is considered the godmother of modern burlesque in Alaska. 

She co-founded VivaVoom Brr-Lesque in 2004, the first burlesque modern troupe in Alaska, and the Freezing Tassel Burlesque Festival, the first Alaskan burlesque festival, in 2015. She has been producing and performing burlesque since 2005, and producing a festival since 2016.  

In addition to co-producing, directing, performing and hosting, in her copious free time, Lola teaches the following workshops to muggles and burlesquers alike: Body Positivity/Self-Acceptance; Confidence; musicality; Host basics, entrances and exits; stage presence; basic production needs for new performers; troupe maintenance; festival production; production for newbies and professionals; and movement for all bodies workshops to muggles and burlesquers alike. 

Because of her love of extreme organization, Lola also assists people with navigating Excel, using online storage platforms, and managing and storing photos and video. She also provides closet assessments, shopping assistance, and one-on-one confidence lessons with people of any ethnicity, age, size, shape and gender identity in her community. 

In her muggle life, Lola has taught Infection Prevention, Patient Communication, Infusion of specific medications, Team building, and nursing organizational skills.  

She is thrilled to be teaching at BurlyCon, where she knows many skilled and talented people come together for melding minds and hearts!
